WATER ENERGY AND JAGUAR MEDICINE OF THE WEST

WATER ENERGY AND JAGUAR MEDICINE OF THE WEST
Water embraces the essence of love. If I understand water energy then I can understand magic, and if I understand magic I can understand love.

Water Mantra: There is water energy inside me
Direction - West
Spirit Animal - Jaguar

About the Jaguar: Renews and transforms heavy energies, devours negative emotions of anger, fear, and grief. Reminds us that steady states are only temporary, as Emerson writes "the universe is fluid". All that exists inside us and outside is moving between expansion and contraction. Even chaos and order are part of the natural cycle of life.

Why Water? Water is essential to me as more than 70% of my body is water.  It binds me together and creates balanced flow within me. It represents my spirituality. It cleanses me and heals psychic energy.

Stones: amethyst, aquamarine, blue tourmaline
Metals: mercury silver copper
Herbs: seaweed roses
Plants: water lilies lettuce gardenias
Animals: cats frogs turtles dolphins seals most fish
Natural symbols: shells, bowls of water
Astrological signs: cancer scorpio pisces
Time of day: sunset

THE MEANING OF THE FOUR DIRECTIONS

THE MEANING OF THE FOUR DIRECTIONS
It would be my pleasure to teach you about the Meanings of the Four Directions of the world. It is insight I offer because my first and lasting teacher is Nature. I follow a Shaman's path and I believe if we can align ourselves in understanding the Alchemy of the 4 directions we have insight into our psyche, emotions and well-being.

Join me in public classes, workshops or trainings. I'd love to be your teacher.

MANIFEST HAPPINESS!

MANIFEST HAPPINESS!

Please join my Happiness Immersion Chakra Vinyasa Workshop November 17th!

50% of Proceeds from this class being DONATED to hyqa Student Scholarship.

Experience a dynamic workshop designed to promote balance and take the adventurous yogi to a deeper level of self-awareness. Using 7 specially focused Salutations related to each of the 7 Chakras we will learn how to unblock all mental & physical barriers so we can manifest the happiest life ever!

Through the ancient study of the chakras—conduits of energy—we will promote self-healing through harmony of heart, mind and body. This is an ideal way to discover how stress, family history, unresolved emotions, past traumas, and bad habits can cause your chakras to become energetically blocked. Learning about your chakras enables you to use Yoga Psychology and apply abstract concepts to your life in practical ways. Once you understand how your emotional expression affects your behavior, you can become un-stuck. You will be empowered to make better choices based on your right to feel, to love, to see, to speak, to understand. This way, you can attract the energy you want and design the your most joyful life!

WHO YOU ARE IS WHAT YOU SAY

WHO YOU ARE IS WHAT YOU SAY

MARCH 27, 2013. MONSTER FULL MOON! Who you are is what you say. Your self-expression is your message to the world about what you are manifesting. Don Miguel Ruiz in The Four Agreements advice to us is: “That is why it is important for you to master your own dream…Your life is the manifestation of your dream; it is an art. And you can change your life anytime if you aren’t enjoying the dream. Dream masters create a masterpiece of life.”

Therefore today’s practice is dedicated to getting clear on what your dream is for Springing into Summer.  And no better way than to focus on the Communication Chakra in order to learn how to be clear in the kinds of questions we are asking ourselves in the design of our personal vision. In our poses we refine our abilities to listen intently and speak honestly with ourselves. Only once we are able to internally express what we want to manifest can we share this outwardly with our friends and family.  Love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia

Hands on and experiential, this workshop will set you up with a whole new understanding of asana through both a giving and receiving and appreciation for our gift of touch. Instruction on working with special populations (different body types, athletes, etc) will be included.

During this workshop, you will move beyond the practice of simply "learning" assists for each pose. Through a solid understanding of the alchemy of assisting, you will become the artist and creator of poses, digging deeper into the makeup of each pose and how an assist or adjustment can take a pose to another level. Perfect for serious students and teachers!

TIME:  9:30am-10:30am

What perfect timing for a fresh start! September 19, 2012 is Ganesha's birthday with a 10 day celebration! He is the bearer of auspicious beginnings, and he has much to teach us.  Generally referred to as the "remover of obstacles", the twist on the teaching is that he represents the obstacle itself.  He is the reminder that challenges come up, that life is often difficult, but that WE have the power to transcend and grow.  We have the choice to make a new beginning. When we actively engage with the challenges we face, rather than looking for someone (real or myth) to take them away, we live an awakened life of intention. That intention becomes the positive conscious thought of what we want in our life.

In the lululemon manifesto it is stated like this: The conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time. Choose a positive thought.

MAKING SPACE FOR NEW BEGINNINGS:

  • So take 5 minutes to ask yourself what is it that needs to be released from my life?
  • What mental obstacles have you piled up that you can you let go?
  • What can you clear out that is detrimental to living happier, lighter?

We will achieve this with moving meditations that propel us forward with a fun vinyasa flow for all levels. We will practice mono-tasking, one pose at time, one positive thought at a time, so our brains feel fresh to see the new beginnings awaiting us in all directions!

The conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time. Choose a positive thought.  Yoga gives us the opportunity to realize this healing for ourselves. One of the most courageous things we can do is allow a new beginning and be as happy as we are meant to be.

SPRING CLEANING WEEK: DAY 1 SAFETY, SURRENDER, FEELINGS

SPRING CLEANING WEEK: DAY 1 SAFETY, SURRENDER, FEELINGS

May 7, 2012. We are devoting 7 days to a Spring cleaning: physically, emotionally and mentally. I am doing this in my life and want to share my plan with you.  You may wonder why? The catalyst for this undertaking is to realign myself with my personal (friends, family), career, and vitality (health, travel, adventure) goals. I want to check in and be certain that I am truthful in what I'm feeling and where I'm going in my life.  I want that for you too.  Keeping close to my heart that no one else makes my life, I make it for me.  And holding as the foundation that the quality of our life is based in the quality of the questions we ask ourselves. So let's begin. And by the end of our 7 days I want you to be able to answer some key questions with your own authority:

1. The main change I want to make in my life is:

2. My biggest obstacles to making this change are:

3. The one experience I most want to have this year is:

On Day 1, our focus is the Root Chakra. We need to make the container strong enough to hold the transformation and cleansing process inside. Key areas today are:

  • Wood element
  • Tree metaphor
  • Trustful surrender
  • Strength receiving
  • What am I feeling
  • Liver

The root chakra sets our foundation. We need to understand our starting point, what are we feeling right now. And in order to reveal our feelings we must feel safe.  When we are grounded our roots go deeper providing us more stability emotionally and physically. Like a tree, the deeper the root base the bigger the bloom above ground. It's like that with us too. The stronger we are in our foundation the more we feel confident in reaching for our greatest visions. The power of manifestation receive strength from the root chakra.

The Liver is the biggest organ in the body and has over 500 functions including but not limited to the fact it helps break down fats; stores vitamins A, D, K, B12, converts food into energy, filters toxins in your blood and detoxifies.  It is in many people's minds the most important organ. Equally as important a healthy liver promotes emotional equalibrium.

Key poses we practiced for the Liver include: Forward Fold, Ball pose, Cobra, Sphinx, Bow Pose, Twists, Supported Headstand, Downward Dog, Pigeon

What to Eat? Lemon juice in water, fruit, any green leafy vegies, seeds, grains like Amaranth, Flax, quinoa and lessen your intake of caffeine and alcohol.

Your at home practice suggestions include:

1. Find a safe place - at home or somewhere in nature like under your favorite tree.

2. Close your eyes and notice what you're feeling

3. Practice breathing on purpose - long and deep, especially making your exhale a little bit longer

4. Talk to yourself saying internally that you are safe, you are supported, you are not alone.

5. Make a mental list of all the people who support you.

6. Practice the metta meditation: May I be safe, may I be healthy, may I be peaceful, may I be loved.

CHAKRA POSES TO PRACTICE AS PRESCRIPTION TO HAPPINESS

CHAKRA POSES TO PRACTICE AS PRESCRIPTION TO HAPPINESS

March 18, 2012. The chakras are the seven main energy centers in the body where we receive, absorb and distribute life energies.  They are located along the spine, starting at the base and running upwards to the crown of the head.  The chakras are described as “Whirling Wheels of light” and each chakra radiates a specific color and energy.  Each chakra relates to specific spiritual, emotional, psychological and physical issues.

Balancing these energy centers leads to our well-being.

These seven chakras can become blocked through external situations and internal habits such as long-held tension in the body or staying stuck in our thoughts about things past or constant worry about the future. As a result a chakra can become either deficient or excessive.  Therefore this chakra is imbalanced

Our chakras are influenced by the asana, poses we practice on the mat in yoga.  We can use poses to promote balance physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Key things to know:

  • The first two chakras are the Chakras of Manifestation. The second two chakras are the Chakras of Relationship.  The upper three are the Chakras of Communication.
  • EVEN CHAKRAS
    • The even numbered chakras 2, 4, 6 (pelvis, heart, third eye) are concerned with the feminine qualities of relaxation and openness.
    • Even chakras cool things down, attracting energy inward
  • ODD CHAKRAS
    • Odd numbered chakras 1, 3, 5, 7 found in legs and feet, solar plexus, throat and crown of head are concerned with the masculine endeavor of applying our free will in the world, asserting our rights to have, to ask, to speak, to know.
    • Odd numbered chakras tend to move energy through our systems pushing it out into the world creating warmth and heat

CHAKRA PSYCHOLOGY: FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS

CHAKRA PSYCHOLOGY: FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS

March 17, 2012.

When our chakras are balanced below is a chart related to the psychology of emotion and feeling being promoted. Love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia

Our constitution marked at conception has two key elements that influence our balance on all levels physical, mental, emotional and spiritual: Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Ether.

5TH CHAKRA YOU ARE THE AUTHORITY OF YOUR LIFE

5TH CHAKRA YOU ARE THE AUTHORITY OF YOUR LIFE

March 10, 2012. We recognize as John Lembo says "Every waking moment we talk to ourselves about the things we experience. Our self-talk, the thoughts we communicate to ourselves, in turn control the way we feel and act."  In yoga we not only observe our thoughts but we practice talking to ourselves on purpose, with purpose from a loving "self" relationship. We learn that what we say to ourselves and how we say it impacts how we feel. We learn that we are responsible for creating our world from the inside out and for sure our outlook on life is a direct reflection of how much we like ourselves.

“Watch your thoughts for they become words,

Watch your words for they become actions

Watch your actions for they become habits,

Watch your habits for they become character

Watch your character for it becomes your destiny!”

Albert Mehrabian, a communications specialist, says "there are 3 parts of communication: words, tone of voice and body language. Here's the breakdown:

*words =  7 percent of the message

*tone of voice = 38 percent of the message

*body language = 55 percent of the message."

When we have a healthy 5th chakra we see ourselves as the personal authority on our lives. We listen to our own wisdom and and make decisions knowing that no matter we can keep our word to ourselves or to another person. We engage the willpower necessary to speak our truth, and share it in relationship with other people without apology and in the most compassionate way. Speak, listen, and love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia

3rd Chakra Frog Power of Transformation

3rd Chakra Frog Power of Transformation

March 8, 2011. Today our focus was the 3rd chakra. The animal spirit guide that influenced the practice was the Frog who symbolizes healing, transformation and rebirth. Our physical focus was a plethora of arm balances. As we stayed engaged in the fire of 3rd chakra practicing determination and tenacity tempered with graceful presence I shared this fable with you:

Frog in a Milk-Pail

<A frog was hopping around a farmyard, when it decided to investigate the barn. Being somewhat careless, and maybe a little too curious, he ended up falling into a pail half-filled with fresh milk.

As he swam about attempting to reach the top of the pail, he found that the sides of the pail were too high and steep to reach.
He tried to stretch his back legs to push off the bottom of the pail but found it too deep.
But this frog was determined not to give up, and he continued to struggle.
He kicked and squirmed and kicked and squirmed, until at last, all his churning about in the milk had turned the milk into a big hunk of butter.
The butter was now solid enough for him to climb onto and get out of the pail!  "Never Give Up!">

Here is an article by Ina Woolcott to tell you more about the shamanistic background of Frog Medicine. Enjoy. Love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia

Frog, Power Animal, Symbol of Healing, Transformation, Rebirth By I. Woolcott

Frog's medicine includes - a reminder of common bonds with all life, singer of songs that celebrate the most ancient watery beginnings, transformation, cleansing, understanding emotions, rebirth, healing, water energy.

Frogs are amphibians, spending their early life nurtured in water and once they emerge onto dry land as frogs. They are never far from a water source. The frog is recognised as a healer in North and South American Native customs, as well as Celtic traditions.

Frog's medicine can wash away any negative physical and mental energies which deny us a balanced and peaceful life. Perhaps when we have allowed emotional toxins to thwart our outlook on life, or if we feel swamped. They also helps to nourish our own innate ability to heal ourselves on all levels.

Due to the fact that frogs are found in water and on land, they hold the magic of both.

Frog is strongly linked with transformation. Generally frogs undergo a two stage life cycle. They start off as eggs, hatching into tadpoles, limbless aquatic larva with gills and a long flat tail. Legs and lungs develop, and the tail gradually disappears as the tadpole approaches the adult stage. This denotes the awakening of ones creativity. When frog enters your life, it is an invitation to leap into your creative power. In order to do this, it is helpful to know which stage of life you are presently at. By studying the frogs characteristics you will discover this. This is yet another reminder to us that life is about evolution, a miracle of change and transformation.

Frog symbolises coming into your personal power, reminding you not to become bogged down with day-to-day living. If frog is your power animal, you give support and energy where it is needed, and can cleanse the negativity from an environment.

CHAKRA HEALING STONES

CHAKRA HEALING STONES

March 6, 2012. The chakras are the seven main energy centers in the body where we receive, absorb and distribute life energies.  They are located along the spine, starting at the base and running upwards to the crown of the head.  The chakras are described as “Whirling Wheels of light” and each chakra radiates a specific color and energy.  As well as relates to specific spiritual, emotional, psychological and physical issues.

Balancing these energy centers leads to our overall happiness! Wearing Healing stones promotes the balance we need. One of my favorite providers of healing stones is Tiny Devotions whose mission is to inspire by sharing their love of mala beads.  I would say they simply want to inspire love! They can be reached at: lovetinydevotions.com

And here are some ideas about how their Mala beads can support your Chakras:

1st Root Chakra – Try their Tuxedo Mala, Black Onyx Mala or Marathon Mala

2nd Sacral Chakra – Try their Carnelian Mala of Abundance

4th Heart Chakra – Try their Rose Quartz Mala

5th Throat Chakra – Try their Turquoise Ocean Mala

6th Ajna Chakra – Try their Amethyst Om Mala or Lapis Mala of Intuition

Choosing mala beads or healing stones reminds us that you always have the freedom to choose your life. The most fundamental choice is choosing to be happy.  As the book Immunity to Change puts it, “‎"Happiness is really freedom from unhappiness."

To me FREEDOM also means:

  • Freedom to be happier than ever before
  • Freedom to try new things
  • Freedom to meet new people
  • Freedom to make happy failures
  • Freedom to not play it all so safe
  • Freedom to do the unexpected
  • Freedom to just see what happens

More than anything you have the freedom to reconnect with the true joy of being alive!  I am confident that you can re-learn your power of choice. Start today by choosing the healing stone that supports you in designing your best life ever! Here’s to continued radical expansion in 2012! Love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia

ABOUT TINY DEVOTIONS:

The founder, Diana Charabin was in Bali, Indonesia when she began creating designer mala necklaces. The Balinese are known to leave acts of Bhakti (or devotion) such as flowers, incense and food on the streets as offerings to their Gods. These tiny devotions inspired the name of the company.

ABOUT TINY DEVOTION MALA BEADS:

Our Tiny Devotions mala beads are perfect for beginnings and endings - goals, struggles, worries, dreams, intentions and prayers.

Mala beads transcend cultures and religions and can be found in some form in nearly every tradition around the world.

The word bead, historically coming from the word "prayer" or "to pray".

These sacred and beautiful beads help us live in the moment - staying present to the beauty of life.

We combine rudraksha seeds with semi precious crystals and pearls to create beautiful designer malas that each have their own specific intention. Rudraksha seeds are known as the eyes or tears of Shiva - and are worn for their protective and sacred qualities.

CHAKRA AFFIRMATIONS AS PRESCRIPTIONS FOR HAPPINESS

CHAKRA AFFIRMATIONS AS PRESCRIPTIONS FOR HAPPINESS

March 4, 2012. This week starting tomorrow I will dedicate to myself to teaching the chakras. Today's focus is Chakra Affirmations, something that anyone can do and no yoga poses are required.

Therefore this chakra is imbalanced. Practicing affirmations that correspond to each chakra can release these blocks and clear the path to more joyful living. Love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia

1.     FIRST:  May I be able to nourish and nurture myself, May I be grounded, May I be stable
2.     SECOND:  May I be at home and at ease in my body, May I find balance in my relationships between myself and others
3.     THIRD:  May I be true to myself, May I express who I am without fear, May I be able to honor myself
4.     FOURTH:  May I be at home in my heart, May I be free to feel my true feelings, desires, passions
5.     FIFTH:  May I be able to express my feelings with ease and be balanced between heart and mind
6.     SIXTH:  May I see and perceive clearly on every level and seek only the truth.
7.     SEVENTH:  May I have a clear and open connection with source energy (spirit) and live in the present moment.

FEAR COMES FROM YOUR HEAD AND HEART NOT WORKING TOGETHER

FEAR COMES FROM YOUR HEAD AND HEART NOT WORKING TOGETHER

February 5, 2012.  Change is scary. And one of my favorite coping mechanisms used to be "bargaining" with change. The internal conversation would be along the lines of negotiating a deal where I would agree to the changes I needed in my life in exchange for assurances that it would all work out great.  I like feeling safe and knowing the outcome before I take the chance to do something. But that's not how life works.  The effort of my mind to control know would lead to imbalance. And eventually my heart would start pounding in my chest saying, "I can't take this any more: I have to do something!" Which creates more distraction.

In this epic romance between our Minds and our Hearts, we lose balance if these two energies are not working together.  This imbalance feeds fear and gives it power over our choices. Yoga teaches us that a healthy person is someone who lives from the union of both head and heart.

While in Aruba April 28-May 4, 2012 we will use the Chakra system to learn how to reconnect our minds and hearts as long lost sweethearts so we can make the decisions that lead to the best changes in our lives. It will still be frightening but not doing something and staying paralzyed by our fears is not an option.  While on retreat we will reunite head and heart, learning to choose love instead of fear.  We will learn that in practice, uniting head and heart is a lot less complicated and complex than it is from a physiological perspectice.  (To see just how intricately the head and heart are connected, check the link at the bottom).

I hope you can join me on this intimate retreat with only 15 guests in one of my favorite parts of the world.  This is perfect for those who want to unblock all mental & physical barriers to live the best life ever!  Love yourself, love your day, love your life! DETAILS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

WHERE IS THE BIG ISLAND, HAWAII?
Larger than all of the other islands combined, the island of Hawaii, or Hawaii's Big Island, is vast enough to hold 11 of the world’s 13 climactic zones—from sandy beaches to snowcapped mountains. Seewaterfalls, rainforests and botanical gardens in Hilo, explore the calm and clear water off of Kona, or view Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Hawaii’s Big Island isn’t just big, it’s still growing. The Island of Hawaii is the youngest island in the Hawaiian chain and is also by far the biggest, providing a vast canvas of environments to discover a variety of unrivaled natural wonders. This is the home of one of the world’s most active volcanoes (Kilauea), the tallest sea mountain in the world at more than 33,000 feet (Maunakea), the most massive mountain in the world (Maunaloa) and the largest park in the state (Hawaii Volcanoes National Park). All but two of the world’s climate zones generate everything from lush rain forests to volcanic deserts, snow-capped mountaintops to beautiful black sand beaches. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a journey off the beaten path, you’ll discover it all on Hawaii’s Island of Adventure.
It’s easy to feel small on Hawaii’s Big Island. From the molten magma flowing from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park to the snow-capped heights of Maunakea; from the green rainforests of the Hamakua Coast to the jet-black sands of Punaluu Beach; Hawaii’s Big Island is an unrivaled expression of the power of nature.

To avoid confusion with the name of the entire state, the Island of Hawaii is often called the “Big Island,” and what an appropriate name it is. Nearly twice as big as all of the other Hawaiian Islands combined, its sheer size can be intimidating. You’ll find all but two of the world's climatic zones within this island’s shores.

The dramatic size and scope of the largest Hawaiian Island create a microcosm of environments and activities. On this island’s vast tableau, you’ll find everything from extravagant resorts and incredible golf courses to modest local towns and sacred Hawaiian
historical sites, from the birthplace of King Kamehameha I to Hawaii’s first missionary church in Historic Kailua Village (Kailua-Kona). With so much to see, it’s best to experience the island in small pieces. There’s plenty of room on Hawaii’s Big Island for your return.

SAMPLE MENUS
As guests at Kalani we will be summoned by the call of the conch to dine on our open-air lanai (veranda). At this central gathering place, we will experience the daily rhythms of assembly and departure reminiscent of ancient village life.

Kalani cuisine encompasses a variety of styles including Thai, Indian, and Italian. Our chefs have extensive training and a common interest in creating healthful and delicious meals. The Chefs celebrate the abundance of Hawaii by serving local tropical fruits and vegetables and fresh caught fish. Seafood is often served at dinner (chicken and beef are served occasionally), and vegetarians are well cared for.

Most importantly, our chefs firmly believe that the care and love invested in the cuisine is transmitted to the diner, and everything is prepared with aloha.

THE YOGA OF CHAKRAS AND LULULEMON MANIFESTO BY LULULEMON AMBASSADOR SILVIA MORDINI

THE YOGA OF CHAKRAS AND LULULEMON MANIFESTO BY LULULEMON AMBASSADOR SILVIA MORDINI

August 7th, 2011

My alignment and love of Chakras and lulu Manifesto come together as one.  I can't help it. I love to look for what connects one thing to another, in other words what yokes things together. Yoking is a literal translation of "yoga".  I am a natural connector.  I have known this about myself since I was a child. I like to find relationship. And I prefer when everyone around me gets along.  I think of myself as a conductor with a invisible baton and in this symphony of humanity I meet everyday I am doing my best to keep all the players in harmony with one another. This might also explain why I love music. My life has a soundtrack. My yoga has a soundtrack too. Each class I teach has a unique playlist every class to support the harmony of the poses. This alchemy of relationship is my greatest strength. And at times offers me the most challenge since so often people, situations and things don't want to get along on easy speed.

Einstein said it like this, “A human being is a part of a whole, called by us 'universe', a part limited in time and space. But he experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us. Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.”

Yoga teaches us that “At the highest level of existence, we are all united. This supreme condition is the joyous union between Shiva (masculine cosmic principle) and Shakti (the feminine cosmic principle). The play of Shiva and Shakti becomes this wonderful dance (lila tandava) with all of us singing, dancing, playing in the grand orchestra of humanity. Everyone embraced as one. So I dedicate this year of being a proud lululemon ambassador (which began May 24, 2011) as a year of building community and furthering connections in all ways. Check out my list of community events and if you have a great idea or way you think I can help connect people through yoga please email me at silvia@alchemytours.com I would be honored! Love yourself, love your day, love your life, Silvia

How Manifesto Relates to Chakras

CHAKRA

lululemon manifesto

MULADHARA – ROOT (EARTH)

What we do to the earth we do to ourselves.

Practice yoga so you can remain active in physical sports as you age.

Visualize your eventual demise. It can have an amazing effect on how you live for the moment.

SVADHISTANA – SACRAL (WATER)

Creativity is maximized when you're living in the moment.

Live near the ocean and inhale the pure salt air that flows over the water.

Observe a plant before and after watering and relate these benefits to your body and brain.

Drink FRESH water and as much water as you can. Water flushes unwanted toxins from your body and keeps your brain sharp.

Children are the orgasm of life.

MANIPURA – SOLAR PLEXUS/ NAVEL (FIRE)

Do one thing a day that scares you.

Successful people replace the words 'wish', 'should' and 'try', with 'I will'.

A daily hit of athletic-induced endorphins gives you the power to make better decisions, helps you be at peace with yourself, and offsets stress.

The world is changing at such a rapid rate that waiting to implement changes will leave you 2 steps behind. DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW!

Life is full of setbacks. Success is determined by how you handle setbacks.

ANAHATA – HEART (AIR)

Your outlook on life is a direct reflection of how much you like yourself.

Breathe deeply and appreciate the moment. Living in the moment could be the meaning of life.

Friends are more important than money.

VISHUDDHA – THROAT (SOUND

Listen, listen, listen, and then ask strategic questions.

AJNA – BROW (LIGHT)

Write down your short and long-term GOALS four times a year. Two personal, two business and two health goals for the next 1, 5 and 10 years. Goal setting triggers your subconscious computer.

Stress is related to 99% of all illness.

SAHASRARA -  CROWN (THOUGHT)

The conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time. Choose a positive thought.

Jealousy works the opposite way you want it to.

That which matters the most should never give way to that which matters the least.

RETURN TO BALANCE OM NAMAH SHIVAYA AND CHAKRAS

RETURN TO BALANCE OM NAMAH SHIVAYA AND CHAKRAS

July 23, 2011.  Not a single day goes by without me asking myself "how do I maintain balance in order to live my best day ever?"  I like you am easily thrown off balance.  Balance itself is easy to find, but sustaining it well that's the challenge mostly because it is up to us, no one else can do the work for us. Francis Braceland says, "We can be sure that the greatest hope for maintaining equilibrium in the face of any situation rests within ourselves."

So where do we start? The Chakras offer us a benchmark where we can assess what our life balance is on any given day, week or moment.  The chakras are the seven main energy centers in the body where we receive, absorb and distribute life energies.  They are located along the spine, starting at the base and running upwards to the crown of the head. Each chakra radiates a specific color and energy.  Each chakra relates to specific spiritual, emotional, psychological and physical issues.  These can become blocked through and as a result a chakra can become either deficient or excessive and therefore imbalanced.  Practicing yoga poses that correspond to each chakra can release these blocks and clear the path to more balanced living.  Understanding your Chakras can help you balance out excessiveness or insufficiencies within them.

I started turning on to the chakras when I began to believe and appreciate the elements that exist in nature outside of us also exist within each of us. I knew this intuitively but it took me a while to intellectual accept it. In Spanish a little song I used to sing goes like this:

Tierra mi Cuerpo
Agua mi Sangre
Aire mi Viento
Y Fuego mi Espiritu.

This is translated as: Earth my Body, Water my Blood, Air my Breath, and Fire my Spirit. It was here in music and I went back and really opened up to these words to help me find balance.

The 5 Element Theory (earth, air, water, fire, sound) relates to the Chakras like this as well:

thumb = Fire Solar Plexus Chakra

first finger = Air Heart Chakra

middle finger = Ether Throat chakra

ring finger = Earth Root Chakra

pinky finger = Water Sacral Chakra

In English  Om Namah Shivaya is my favorite chant, the Anusara Invocation embraces it. During and after singing this song I feel a quiet but energized sense of equilibrium. And I learned that the elements and chakras are the syllables of Na, Ma, Shi, Va, Ya. Om Namah Shivaya mantra uses the universal elements that govern each chakra: earth, water, fire, air, and ether. This song helps the chakras to better utilize the fundamental elements that predominate in the chakra.  When we sing, hear or think this mantra we bring into balance all the chakras, all our energies.  If you need a real time life balance exercise try saying or singing 108 rounds of this mantra, or even just a few.

This mantra also reminds us of our innate Perfection.  That we are born perfect (siddha) and whole.  And our only job in this lifetime is to remember how AMAZING WE ARE!  The thing is, you have always been perfect and what you are experiencing through your journey is a return to balance where our energies are neither excessive or deficient but even.

So if you are a beach lover, sun worshiper, or soul rider interested in learning more about the chakras join me, lululemon ambassador, Dec 11-17, 2011 on the Big Island Hawaii at Kalani Resort. Early birds until Aug 30 get $150 OFF. Lodging at all price points. This is the Ultimate Blissful Yoga Retreat!!! Love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia

BALANCED LIVING IS NOT PERFECTION

BALANCED LIVING IS NOT PERFECTION

February 14, 2011.  Day 5 of Love Blogging 21 days in 2011.  Each chakra relates to specific spiritual, emotional, psychological and physical aspects of ourselves. These can become blocked and as a result a chakra can become either deficient or excessive and therefore imbalanced.  Practicing poses that correspond to each chakra can release these blocks and clear the path to more balanced living.  Today our focus is on balance and we practiced balance poses like tree, warrior 3, crane and even nurtured the balanced point in a Warrior 2 pose so neither foot is bearing more or less weight that the other.

From this we discovered that Balance is not hard to find. But it is certainly challenging to maintain.  We can be sure that the greatest hope for maintaining equilibrium in the face of any situation rests within ourselves.”  Francis J. Braceland.  The work of balance is that of the 4th chakra (in the middle of the 7 chakras).  This is our heart chakra that when healthy and in balance helps us to maintain balance between our role as the lover and the beloved.  For in yogic practice we are the one doing the loving and the one receiving the loving.  If one doesn't know how to love oneself then it is impossible to love another person.  We have to know the giving/receiving within our own hearts before experiencing it in relationship with the world.  The key thing to know about balance is that it is NOT perfection.  Love is messy, and falling out of a balance pose is just like losing our balance in life.  We have the choice to get back up and try again and again.  So on this Valentine's Day please do yourself a favor stop asking perfection of yourself or another person.  Instead wake up to how great life is right now and how wonderful you are!

"Why wait for your awakening?

The moment your eyes are open,

sieze the day.  Would you hold

back when the Beloved beckons?

"No, I can't step across the

threshold."  you say, eyes

downcast.  "I'm not worthy.

I'm afraid. I'm not perfect,

and surely I haven't practiced

nearly enough.  My meditation

isn't deep. I still chew

my fingernails and the refrigerator

isn't clean."  Do you value your

reasons for staying small more

than the light shining through

the open door?  Forgive yourself.

Now is the only time you have

to be whole.  Now is the sole

moment that exists to live in

the light of the true Self.

Perfection is not a prerequisite

for anything but pain.  Please,

oh please, don't continue to

believe in your disbelief.  This is

the day of your awakening."

--Danna Faulds, Go In and In

The most advanced yoga pose is loving yourselves.  In this lies our ultimate resource for making the sensitive adjustments necessary to maintain balance in life.  Love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia

THE IMPORTANCE OF RITUALS

THE IMPORTANCE OF RITUALS

SEPTEMBER 27, 2010  Yoga is one of my most important Rituals.  Actually the first time I understood what the word "practice" really meant the lightbulb went off and I realized oh yeah, "something I practice repeatedly over a long period of time".  Well that is a ritual too.

Within my yoga life the ritual I have especially on Monday's is to do a balancing of my energies related to the elements.  Before I believed in Chakras, I did believe in Earth, Water, Air, Fire.  Then eventually I started to understand that all of the elements are within and outside us. And even beyond that the concept of Doshas and Chakras. And all of it got less intimidating. Two easy ways for me to stay connected to the elements and through that discover where I am excessive or deficient and do something about it are:

1.  Each finger represents an element so I pray, meditate, focus on bringing my thumb to each finger.

2.  I sing a song to the elements (I know lots of them but this one was the focus tonight).  And in Spanish to my Latin roots (my Mom's side as my Dad's side is the Italian part)

Tierra mi Cuerpo
Agua mi Sangre
Aire mi Viento
Y Fuego mi Espiritu.

Hey even if you don't understand Spanish you might pick up a word here or there.  So this is translated as: Earth my Body, Water my Blood, Air my Breath, and Fire my Spirit.

What does this have to do with Rituals?  Well when we disconnect from our rituals we lose touch with what Louise Hay calls our "inner ding" or intuition or good old fashion gut feel.  So this practice was meant to bring our awareness to the four elements and feel that connection of each to ourselves, the micro experience, and to the world at large, our macro experience.  All of this reminds us that we are in Yoga at every moment of our lives. There is this primordial power or universal intelligence that draws us together in balance, in union.  And this goes beyond us to our ancestors and to the legacy we leave beyond this earthly body.  Perhaps this inspires you to create your own Ritual around the elements, or even a single element, and I hope so.  Love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia

CHAKRAS RELATED TO THE SELF

CHAKRAS RELATED TO THE SELF

AUGUST 15, 2010.  One of my favorite workshops to teach is the Chakra Salutation Workshop each year.  One of the key take aways from this self-time is understanding the Chakras related to the "Self".  I hope that connecting the dots so to speak of how each chakra can be either deficient or excessive through this lens of "self" helps you to more easily identify where you need to focus.  The ultimate intention is we achieve as state where all of this "self" intention is balanced and tuned in.  Enjoy!  Love yourself, love your day, love your life, Silvia

ANOTHER WEEK YOGA SAVES MY LIFE

ANOTHER WEEK YOGA SAVES MY LIFE

JULY 11, 2010:  The summer is that time of year where it is so easy to get overloaded with solar energy we try to do too much. The hazard here is that we can easily burn out and loose track of what is relevant.  And without that we get ungrounded and our Root Chakra weakens.

To me this is yet another way Yoga saves us.

There is not a week that goes by that YOGA DOESN'T SAVE MY LIFE.  It saves my soul from hurting for too long it saves my heart from getting stuck in its longing it saves my mind from replaying things that have happened or rehearse the future. This practice saves my life and gives it back to me.

Here you go!  No strings attached, no questions asked.  And no conditions to be met.

That's pretty marvelous.  So be really awake to what you are saying yes to this summer and reground yourself on the mat so you too can return to your center. Because busy and hyper active physically does not mean our souls, hearts or minds are feeling good. They need the care that only comes from slowing down and giving thanks for the breath.

Join me to breath with me, to breath yourself back to groundedness and STAY ROOTED IN LIFE!  Love to you in all ways, Silvia

INNER STRENGTH

INNER STRENGTH

May 19, 2010, Tonight we focused on hugging in to our center. To cultivate that awareness of our own best strength.  And what is inner strength really? Well it is love, that’s all.  "We are kept from the experience of Spirit because our inner world is cluttered with past traumas....As we begin to clear away this clutter, the energy of divine light and love begins to flow through our beings."   -Thomas Keating

We experienced this return to ourselves through a series of poses and mantras flowing through the elements such as:

Earth: I am grounded

Fire: I am rising

Air: I am free

When our minds and hearts are scattered in their energy we lose track of self-love and it always starts there in laying the foundation for a healthy life.  So we come to the mat to rebuild.  Beginning with the earth element and drawing nutrients and support from the earth to help us return to stillness. The healing then expands and as we return to our center by engaging principals of alignment such as hugging to the midline and muscular energy we return to our most powerful selves. We feel the confidence and enthusiasm of the third chakra. There is an aliveness and energy that expands out and up!  And from there we connect to the air element of the fourth chakra feeling the lightness and freedom that are our true nature.  We are once more in the home of our hearts, we are in love with ourselves and with our lives.  You see inner strength is love…that’s all.  With metta, Silvia

FEELING CENTERED 9 LIFE LESSONS YOU LEARN FROM CLIMBING (AND YOGA)

FEELING CENTERED 9 LIFE LESSONS YOU LEARN FROM CLIMBING (AND YOGA)

MARCH 3, 2010: What does CENTERED mean to you? To me it means balance, peace, happiness, patience, a oneness with others instead of a tug of war,and most of all BEING PRESENT.It is that isness of now that Echkart Tolle writes of in A New Earth. When we practice yoga we are actively seeking to make the adjustments necessary to be more present to keep returning to our center by studying ourselves or as Socrates says, "To know thyself."

The third chakra, often called the solar plexus, is our personal power centre, the magnetic core of the personality and ego.The Sacred Truth of the third chakra is ~Honor One-self~. The energies that come together in this chakra have but one spiritual goal; to help us mature in our self understanding - the relationship we have with others, and where we stand on our own and take care of ourselves. The spiritual quality is self-respect. We have all faced or will face an experience that reveals to us our own internal strengths and weaknesses and henceis what throws usOFF balance. Here below is a beautiful summary of 3rd Chakra key learning points we went over in class together. And one of my FAVORITE TED CLIPS about the 9 life lessons rock climbing (which is so much like yoga!). Enjoy!! Love and light,

Silvia

Primary strengths IN BALANCE: Self-esteem, self respect, and self discipline, ambition, the ability to generate action, and the ability to handle a crisis; the courage to take risks, generosity, ethics and strength of character.

Primary Fears OUT OF BALANCE: Fears of rejection, criticism, looking foolish and failing to meet ones responsibilities, all fears relating to physical appearance, such as fear of obesity, baldness or ageing, fears that others will discover our secrets.

How we feel about ourselves, whether we respect ourselves, determines the quality of our life, our capacity to succeed in business, relationships, healing and intuitive skills. Self understanding and acceptance, the bond we form with ourselves, is in many ways the most critical spiritual challenge we face. In truth, if we do not like ourselves, we will be incapable of making healthy decisions. Instead, we will direct all of our personal the hands of someone else; someone whom we want to impress, or someone before whom we think we must weaken ourselves to gain physical security. People who have a low sense of self esteem attract relationships and occupational situations that reflect and reinforce this weakness. Nobody is born with healthy self esteem. We must earn this quality in the process of living as we face our challenges one at a time.

Key points about the Third Chakra:

  • When our thoughts are scattered in several directions at once and we are no longer conscious of what we are doing or why, it is time to center ourselves.
  • When we center ourselves, we begin by acknowledging that we have become spread too thin and we are no longer unified inside.
  • Our thoughts might be out of sync with our feelings, and our actions may be out of sync with both. The main signs that we need to center ourselves are scattered thoughts and a feeling of disconnection or numbness, as if we are no longer able to take anything in. In addition, we may feel unfocused and not present in our bodies. Centering ourselves is a way of coming to terms with all the different energies within us and drawing them back into ourselves.
  • Centering yourself means that you are working from or being aware of the core of your being in the solar plexus area of your body. We naturally know how to center ourselves when we take a deep breath, for example, before making a big announcement or doing something big. Another way to center ourselves is to sit down and engage in breath meditation. We can start by simply getting into a comfortable upright position and noticing as our breath enters and leaves our bodies. Our breath flows into our center and out from our center, and this process can serve as a template for all of our interactions in the world. In conversations, we can take what our friends are saying into the center of our beings and respond from the center. Our whole lives mirror this ebb and flow of energy that begins and ends at the center of ourselves. If we follow this ebb and flow, we are in harmony with the universe, and when we find we are out of harmony, we can always come back into balance by sitting down and observing our breath.
  • When wecenter ourselves we can imagine that we are gathering our straying thoughts and energies back into ourselves, the way a mother duck gathers her babies around her. We can also visualize ourselves casting a net and pulling all the disparate parts of ourselves back to the center of our being, creating a sense of fluid integration. From this place of centeredness, we can begin again, directing ourselves outward in a more intentional way.

Matthew Childs' 9 life lessons from rock climbing (6 minutes)

  1. Don't let go (you think about letting go way before your body does, hang in there, watch for creative solutions)
  2. Hesitation is bad
  3. Have a plan (plan ahead to get to the top but you can't forget you have to complete each individual move)
  4. The move is the end
  5. Know how to rest (best climbers know to to get themselves into a position where they can regroup, calm themselves)
  6. Fear sucks (you are focusing not on what you're doing but on the consequences ofFAILING at what you're doing, anything effective requires you focus on what you're doing)
  7. Opposites are good
  8. Strength doesn't always equal success (pull up example guys and girls)
  9. Know how to let go (once you get to that point where you know its goingto happen, think about how you are going to fall, that's how you won't get hurt, fall in a way that you can control the fall, don't just hang on until the bitter end)

YOGA AND JOURNALING

YOGA AND JOURNALING
NOVEMBER 13, 2009: The Yoga and Journaling workshop was wonderful thanks to all who attended and Lucy Activewear, our sponsor. Our focus, different than earlier in the year, was 4th 7th chakras, building upon the lower chakras. We took to heart the words of Joseph Campbell who said, Life is not about the meaning. Its about the feeling. But the question is how do we promote healthy relationships between ourselves and others? The story of the Porcupine Fable by Arthur Schopenhauer served as further inspiration. "A troop of porcupines is milling about on a cold winter's day. In order to keep from freezing, the animals move closer together. Just as they are close enough to huddle, however, they start to poke each other with their quills. In order to stop the pain, they spread out , lose the advantage of commingling, and again begin to shiver. This sends them back in search of one and other, and the cycle repeats as they struggle to find a comfortable distance between entanglement and freezing." Also here below are the Affirmations Per Chakra and other details of these particular chakras.

SEPTEMBER 4, 2009:  Namaskaram Yogi Friends,

What a great practice today!  For bringing your best self I thank you.  As you know we focused on Om Namah Shivaya.  I shared the story of how last week I brought a friend to their first Kirtan. Om Namah Shivaya was their favorite song.  So this inspired me to share more with you today, starting by singing out 108 rounds of this mantra.

Om Namah Shivaya mantra uses the universal elements that govern each chakra: earth, water, fire, air, and ether.

Thats all the chakras are: just the elements that you know exist rolled up into various energies of our bodies.  The syllables of Na, Ma, Shi, Va, Ya help the chakras to better utilize the fundamental elements that predominate in the chakra.  When we sing, hear or think this mantra we bring into balance all the chakras, all our energies.

This mantra also reminds us of our innate Perfection.  That we are born perfect (siddha) and whole.  And our only job in this lifetime is to remember how AMAZING WE ARE!  The thing is, you have always been perfect and what you are experiencing through your journey is the removal of all the external layers youve carried for a long time known as kleshas.

This brings us back to our true nature, which is JOY.  Even Abraham Lincoln says Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.  If this knowing comes from a man known for his dark depression then I am sure we can all find a way to understand this about ourselves.  Carl Jung once said, your vision will become clear only when you can look into your heart.  So Om Namah Shivaya brings us back to our selves, we actually remember better how happy we are on the inside in spite of the challenges that might surround us.  Put another way by great Indian Philosopher Pantanjali, When you are inspired, all your thoughts break their bonds: your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive and you discover yourself to be a greater person than you ever dreamed yourself to be.

All I am asking each of you to do is believe in your own GREATNESS and capacity for ever increasing happiness.  Leo Buscaglia writes in his book Loving Each Other Joy and happiness are simply states of mind, it is strange that some of the happiest people I have ever known were those who seemed to have no particular cause to rejoice.  They were simply happy.  They seemed to have in common a singular courage, a willingness to risk, to fail and to let go, a believe in themselves, a wonderful resourcefulness, and a trust in their creative uniqueness.

Be your best self today, OM NAMAH SHIVAYA!!  Big love, Silvia

WATER INVOCATION: 2ND CHAKRA

WATER INVOCATION: 2ND CHAKRA

JANUARY 9TH, 2009:    Vinyasa yoga is a great way to flush out some of the tension in our lives so we can transform our minds and improve the loving flow from our hearts. In class we are invited to move smoothly, letting go of the hard edges as we invoke the Water Spirit by moving like water.  When you think about it what is tension but resistance to change.  The water element which is the element of the 2nd chakra governs all watery things about us: circulation, tears, peeing, congestion, orgasm.  Makes sense, water flows, moves and changes and a healthy second chakra allows us to go with the flow and navigate the changes in life with grace and ease.

So today I dedicate this practice to a dear friend who is just now really allowing themselves to open up to taste the sweetness of life! You know who you are.  And I want to thank my teacher Shiva Rea for sharing with me the Jala Namaskar that inspired the physical practice.

For those of you not able to join us, when you feel stuck or overally demanding of your body, your life, your relationships (like you want them to be different than what they are) invoke the water element.  Engage fluid vinyasa movement, curving flow, backbends, and mandalas (rotations) of all the major joints to mimic the way water circles and spirals.  I wish for you for me for all of us that this chakra helps us to feel what were feeling, that it helps us open to life even when its scary, to lessen our resistance to being happier than ever before and that you feel more sensual in the way you breath, eat, drink, move and touch the world!  A big warm embrace for all of you, Silvia

YOGA FOR BEING LESS TIRED

YOGA FOR BEING LESS TIRED

JANUARY 6TH, 2009:  We all get tired right?  But why?  Interesting enough when we are tired we are stagnant, it is not that we have expended too much energy but we have not been actively moving our bodies enough.  The yoga of moving and breathing moves our energy and flushes the body to remove the stuckness.  A key way to look at Yoga for being less tired is to focus on the 3rd Chakra.  This chakra often called the solar plexus, is our personal power center.  The magnetic core of our personality which wants to bubble up and radiate out.

When the 3rd charka is in balance we have strong Self-esteem, self respect, and self discipline.  When out of balance we get stagnant and run down as a result of fear of rejection, criticism, whether well look foolish and worried about whether other people think we are meeting our responsibilities.  This drains us of energy.

How we feel about ourselves, whether we respect ourselves, determines the quality of our life, our capacity to succeed in business, and relationships. Self understanding and acceptance, the bond we form with ourselves, is in many ways the most critical spiritual challenge we face. This is really then the entry from spiritual babyhood or adolescence into spiritual adulthood.  Managing our energies is a big part of this.  From a spiritual perspective, in fact, the entire physical world is nothing more than our classroom, but the challenge to each of us in this classroom is: Given your particular body, environment, job, family, and beliefs, will you make choices that enhance your spirit or those that drain your spirit?  Will you be able to maintain your energy boundaries and sense of identity as part of your tribe but not based only upon it.

A favorite meditation I have from my friend Constance Hart is this:   DRAW YOUR ENERGY BACK TO YOU - imagine that you are gathering your straying thoughts and energies back into yourself. Or visualize yourself casting a net and pulling all the disparate parts of yourself back to the center of your being, creating a sense of balanced energy. From this place of centeredness, we can begin again, directing ourselves outward in a more intentional way.

Life life on purpose, with purpose, maintaining the energy necessary to propel yourself towards your dreams!  Think big! Silvia

4TH CHAKRA: BALANCE SOFTNESS & BOUNDARIES

4TH CHAKRA: BALANCE SOFTNESS & BOUNDARIES

JANUARY 2ND, 2009: Yoga is after all not an escape from life but a way of really feeling the pulse. This pulse is found at the beating of your heart. My Father and my whole Mordini family have heart disease and my brother is a Cardiologist so I have been tuned into heart health my entire life. Maybe it some ways it has made me more sensitive to it and a little bit more vulnerable.

But thats the point of yoga it will lead you eventually to your own vulnerability whether you want it to or not. For some this means they walk away from the practice as soon as it gets hard (Im not talking physically but emotionally raw). It took me a long time and a ton of resistance (some anger too) to realize that being vulnerable opens up greater pathways to love and healing. Vulnerability, being soft on the inside is linked to our capacity for intimacy and love. Especially the kind of unconditional love that doesnt sit in judgment of others. Being your soft self takes guts and a ton of courage. Being vulnerable and open hearted is not for wimps. It is the most advanced practice of yoga.

The fourth chakra is that of the heart center. And in a favorite book of mine, Wheels of Light, the author writes LOVE IS A UNIFYING FORCE: it draws things together and keeps them in relationship. And there is no greater way to invite love than to offer it first.

I personally have experimented with this. Putting yourself out there and offering love first and I can tell you it is scary. Its a whole lot harder than driving a speed boat super fast, skiing down black diamond slopes, going to a nude beach, giving a presentation to hundreds of people. But heres the thing. If you do offer it first you know you are living in the moment and by making yourself vulnerable you will live without regret.

So if you ever need that extra support to put yourself out there call me, email me, stop by. Ive done it, Ive lived to write about it and I have found a joyous sense of acceptance that I never even knew existed. I am here for you! Love Big In All Ways, Silvia

BALANCE: NADIS, CHAKRAS, AND MARMAS

BALANCE: NADIS, CHAKRAS, AND MARMAS
THEME NOVEMBER 11, 2008:  Tonight our focus was on learning more about the three levels of energy centers that exist within us seeking to be balanced.  We included a wonderful 18 point Marma Meditation to promote healing and balance. Then we devoted the remainder of the practice to observing where our imbalances are, especially those related to our right and left sides (Ida and Pingala) and how we can bring back balance through breathing and particular poses. All of this was supported by specially picked musical selections meant to balance each chakra.

When the prana is balanced, when we feel balanced, when the energy within us that is solar and lunar are equalized then we are living in an optimal healthy way.  The key to health in balancing the flwo of energies within us is to figure out where we are blocked (tense, tight) adn where there is excess flow (hyperactivity, emotional hysteria, insomnia).  Bringing balance is one thing, maintaining balance in life requires a great deal of sensitivity, patience and persistence but I know you can do it!

It was a deeply profound practice and reminds me that this last few weeks of the year it will be easy to get out of balance and just suffer through the holiday's. Or maybe this is the year we decide we will remain peaceful and balanced by coming to the mat to reconnect with ourselves.  If you want a copy of the handout "Nadis, Chakras, Marmas" just email me.  May you be peaceful, May you be balanced. May you be in love with life! MAINTAINING BALANCE: CHAKRAS AND MORE!

MAINTAINING BALANCE: CHAKRAS AND MORE!

AUGUST 12TH, 2008:  How do we find and maintain balance in order to live the best life ever?  Well, today we discussed the Chakras and their application. Practicing poses that correspond to each chakra can release these blocks and clear the path to more balanced living.

We passed out a handout with a chart of the Chakras and corresponding element, color, healing stones, and specific poses to help balance out excessiveness or insufficiencies within them.  If you want a copy just email us at silvia@totalbodyyoga.com

We can be sure that the greatest hope for maintaining equilibrium in the face of any situation rests within ourselves.  Francis J. Braceland
